On January 12, a new history exhibit opens in the Community Archives Gallery at the Schoolhouse Children’s Museum. 90 Years of Leadership: Mayors of Boynton Beach honors past and present leaders of Boynton Beach as well as government dignitaries at other levels.
Step back in time and see photos of the elected officials who served as mayor of Boynton Beach over the last nine decades. Meet the folks after whom Woolbright Road, Knuth Road, Willard Way and Harmening Park are named. Enjoy childhood photographs of former mayors and current commissioners. Learn what life was like for our elected officials when they were children.
View the minutes from the first town council meetings in 1920. Check out original city ledgers, checkbooks, maps, dockets and other memorabilia from the days when Boynton had less than 1000 residents!
The museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. The exhibit continues through May. For more information please call (561) 742-6780 or go to www.schoolhousemuseum.org.
